Still Life
Photographers portray the city during the corona pandemic
Six photographers from Rotterdam portray the city during the corona pandemic.
The Droom en Daad foundation asked Khalid Amakran, Loes van Duijvendijk, Willem de Kam, Geisje van der Linden, Naomi Modde and Marwan Magroun to capture Rotterdam during the Covid-19 pandemic. These sixtalented Rotterdam photographers will each make a photo series that shows the unprecedented impact of the coronavirus on the city.
The national measures relating to Covid-19 have major consequences for daily life. The six photographers focused on visualising these consequences. Between mid-March and the beginning of May, they each made a series of ten images. Together, the photo series give an overview of the current situation in Rotterdam.
The photos can be seen at Kunsthal Rotterdam from 10 December 2020 to 25 April 2021. After the exhibition, the complete photo series will be deposited in the Stadsarchief Rotterdam.
The hardcover photo book ‘Stil leven - Still Life’, published by Hannibal Books features the complete series of all six photographers. Including an essay by writer and television maker Wilfried de Jong
